Terms and Conditions
These Terms & Conditions outline the practical and professional arrangements for working together. They are designed to support clarity, safety, and a shared understanding of how therapy is offered within this practice.
1. Therapeutic Services
I offer psychological therapy, systemic family and couples psychotherapy, and related professional services. Therapy is a collaborative process, and outcomes cannot be guaranteed. You are welcome to ask questions at any time about the therapeutic approach, methods, or direction of our work.
2. Session Length and Fees
-
Sessions are typically 50 minutes, unless otherwise agreed.
-
Fees are confirmed at the time of booking and may be reviewed annually.
-
Payment is due on the day of the session, unless a different arrangement has been agreed in advance.
Invoices, receipts, or documentation for insurance purposes can be provided upon request.
3. Cancellations and Missed Sessions
To protect the time set aside for your therapy:
-
Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged at the full fee.
-
Missed sessions (non-attendance) are also charged in full.
-
If I need to cancel a session, I will give as much notice as possible and no fee will be charged.
Regular attendance supports the therapeutic process and helps maintain continuity.
4. Confidentiality
Your privacy is taken seriously. All information shared in therapy is treated as confidential.
Confidentiality may need to be broken only in the following circumstances:
-
If there is a serious and immediate risk of harm to you or someone else
-
If there is a safeguarding concern involving a child or vulnerable adult
-
If required by a court order or legal obligation
-
If information is requested under professional or regulatory duties
Where possible, I will always discuss this with you first.
A full Privacy Notice and GDPR statement is available on request or on the website.
5. Crisis and Emergency Situations
This practice does not provide crisis intervention or emergency mental-health support.
If you are in crisis, feel unable to keep yourself safe, or require immediate assistance, please contact:
-
Your GP or GP Out-of-Hours Service
-
NHS 111
-
The Samaritans: 116 123 (24/7)
-
Emergency services (999) or your nearest A&E in life-threatening situations
6. Communication Between Sessions
Email or phone contact between sessions is limited to practical matters such as scheduling. Therapeutic support cannot be provided outside of session time.
I aim to respond to administrative messages within 2–3 working days.
7. Online and Remote Sessions
Online sessions are offered via secure platforms. Clients are responsible for ensuring:
-
A private, uninterrupted space
-
A stable internet connection
-
That they are physically located within a jurisdiction where I am permitted to practise
8. Professional Standards
I am registered with HCPC, BPS, and EFTA, and adhere to their ethical and professional guidelines. I receive regular clinical supervision to ensure safe, reflective, and high-quality practice.
9. Records and Data Protection
Session notes are kept securely and in accordance with GDPR and professional standards. You have the right to request access to your personal data, subject to legal and professional limitations.
Records are retained for the period required by professional guidelines and then securely destroyed.
10. Ending Therapy
You may end therapy at any time. Where possible, I encourage a planned ending, as this supports reflection and closure.
I may suggest ending therapy if:
-
The work is no longer clinically appropriate
-
A different service would better meet your needs
-
Attendance becomes inconsistent in a way that affects the therapeutic process
This would always be discussed with you sensitively and collaboratively.
11. Complaints and Feedback
If you have concerns about any aspect of the service, please raise them with me so we can address them together. If you wish to make a formal complaint, you may contact the relevant professional body (HCPC, BPS, or EFTA).
Feedback is always welcome and helps shape the quality of the service.
