Ethical Practice / Deontology

I am committed to offering therapy that is safe, respectful, and grounded in strong ethical and professional standards. This page explains the values that guide my work, how your information is protected, and the rare circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be broken. My aim is to create a therapeutic space where you feel understood, supported, and able to speak freely.

Ethical Practice & Professional Standards

My work is guided by the ethical frameworks of the HCPC, BPS, and EFTA, as well as the principles of systemic and psychological practice. These standards shape every aspect of the therapeutic relationship.

Respect, Dignity & Autonomy

You are the expert in your own life. I work collaboratively, honouring your autonomy, your lived experience, and the cultural, relational, and personal contexts that shape your story.

I am mindful of power, difference, and diversity, and I welcome clients from all backgrounds, identities, and relationship structures.

Competence & Integrity

I practise within the scope of my training and experience, and I maintain high standards through ongoing CPD and regular clinical supervision.

I work transparently, thoughtfully, and with integrity. If another service or approach would better support you, I will discuss this openly and sensitively.

Responsibility & Safeguarding

Your wellbeing is my priority. I follow safeguarding responsibilities for children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and I act promptly and appropriately if concerns arise.

Wherever possible, I involve you in decisions and discuss any steps that may need to be taken.

Boundaries & Professionalism

Clear boundaries help create a safe therapeutic environment. Communication outside sessions is limited to practical matters such as scheduling, and the therapeutic relationship is always held with care, respect, and professionalism.
